Our history

Where we start
By action of the General Conference that convened in May 1984 at Baltimore, Maryland, USA, the Middle Philippines Annual Conference was authorized to divide into two annual conferences during the quadrennium ending in 1984. Thus, a special session of the Middle Philippine Annual Conference was held on December 15, 1984 at Bancal, Guagua, Pampanga for the purposes of carrying out the action of the 1984 General Conference. The two annual conferences that were established were the Middle Philippines Annual Conference and the West Middle Philippines Annual Conference. The West Middle Philippines Annual Conference comprises the provinces of Bataan, Zambales and Pampanga. In the 1997 session of WMPAC, South Tarlac District was formally included as part of the territorial jurisdiction of the WMPAC, per action of the 1996 Central Conference.

In the Regular Session of the Philippines Annual Conference in December 2000, the creation of the Pampango Philippines Annual Conference was approved. To carry out the action, a special session of the WMPAC was held on March 3, 2001 at the New Covenant United Methodist Church, San Fernando, Pampanga. WMPAC retained the provinces of Bataan and Zambales, while the province of Pampanga, the South Tarlac District and part of the Mission District for Tribal Filipinos (located in Pampanga and Tarlac geographical areas) comprised the new Pampango Philippines Annual Conference.

Due to continuing growth of churches in Tarlac, resulting to the establishment of another District (Central Tarlac District) and in recognition of its capability to stand as a separate annual conference, The Philippine Central Conference in its 2004 Regular Session, approved the separation of the South Tarlac and Central Tarlac Districts from the Pampango Annual Conference and now comprised the Tarlac Philippines Annual Conference. It held its Inaugural Regular Session on April 12-14, 2005 at The United Methodist Church- Rev. Ricardo Del Rosario Memorial, Poblacion, Bamban, Tarlac. Likewise, Episcopal supervision was transferred from Manila Episcopal Area to Baguio Episcopal Area in 2006 Narito ang maikling kasaysayan ng Tarlac Philippines Annual Conference na inihan-da ng mga Doctor of Ministry Students sa ilalim ni Dr. Meynardo Jose.

Tarlac is unique compared to other provinces where established Methodist Churches are found. Peculiarity of mix cultures, the province instead of having a common district, much more an annual conference was divided to several districts and two Annual Conferences- The Central Luzon Philippines Annual Conference and The Tarlac Philippines Annual Conference.
